Artist’s Statement
The works shown here are from The Book of Yes: An Artist’s Answer to No, a 378 page mixed media book project started in 1997. It began when I made several drawings using the word “yes” as text and texture, or as shapes for structure, and evolved so that each page included the word “yes,” and each image was the same size. I decided to do one image a day for one year and see what would happen. To maintain my love of living on the growing edge, I added one more component to this evolving project, to try something new in each piece. The Book of Yes is my answer to “no” and to all those inner and outer forces that would contain, restrict, silence or deny our authenticity and its fullest expressions. It’s a testament to the power of intention and of a commitment to personal vision.
