- Manuel González is a poet and performance artist from Albuquerque. His passionate and articulate poems have influenced hundreds of New Mexicans. He also has been a member of the not-so-angry "Angry Brown Poets," a loose association of performance poets.
- Jessica Zimmerberg-Helms is a poet living in Northern New Mexico
- Ann Hunkins is a poet, editor, translator (of Nepali), and photographer living in Santa Fe.
- E.A. "Tony" Mares is a poet, playwright, actor, historian, and (retired UNM) professor living in Albuquerque.
- Valerie Martínez is an award winning poet, translator and professor at the College of Santa Fe.
- Sawnie Morris is a poet living in Taos.
- Amy Mullin is a poet living in Santa Fe.
- Kim Perrier is a poet living in Santa Fe.
- Michael Pettit is a poet and former professor at Mount Holyoke University who lives in Santa Fe.
- Kenn Rodríguez is a performance poet and mentor to young writers, living in Albuquerque.
- Rebecca Seiferle is a poet who is a winner of two Pushcart Prizes, a Western States Book Award, nominee for a Pulitzer Prize, and a recent Lannan Foundation Award Winner. After many years of living in Farmington, she is currently Visiting Poet-in-Residence at Brandies University.
- Danny Solís is a performance poet who is largely considered to the "daddy" of the slam movement in New Mexico, particularly Albuquerque.
- Jesse Arthur Stone is a poet living in Santa Fe.
- Dick Thomas is a poet who divides his time between Las Cruces and Michigan State University where is a a tenured full professor.
- Connie Voisine is a poet who is a professor at New Mexico State University, Las Cruces.
