A Webslam is...
A Poetry contest that takes place entirely on the internet. During the 3-week contents, participants send in their poomes each week via e-mail.
Judges (professional poets) read, score and comment upon the poems.
Everything is posted on the Culture Net Web Site each week. The goal is to have fun and foster self expression and literacy.
A Few Simple Rules
- Participating teams must reside in New Mexico and/or the Navajo Nation.
- Participants must be part of a high school or community-sponsored team.
- Each team must have between four and six members.
- Each team must have a "coach," usually an English teacher.
- Participants must write a new and original poem each week for the three weeks of WebSalm
- Three winners are determined by the highest cumulative scores.
