What is Poetry Jam?

Poetry Jam is a gathering of high school students and teachers to participate in workshops, readings and slams led by outstanding New Mexico poets.

GENERAL INFORMATION

DATE Friday, April 7, 9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
LOCATION Santa Fe Community College, Jemez Rooms; Lensic in the evening
WHAT An exciting variety of poetry workshops, with a 7PM evening performance at the Lensic.
COST $7 lunch fee, but otherwise the event is FREE—pizza supper and Lensic admission are free. Please let us know
if you have any students who cannot afford this $7 fee, and we will gladly cover it. Thanks.
WHO Santa Fe area high school students, SFCC students and IAIA students are given first priority. If there is room,
select Albuquerque schools will be invited.

Where is Poetry Jam being held?

Poetry Jam ’06 will return to The Lensic, Santa Fe's Performing Arts Center, for the evening performance, and the workshops will be held during the day at Santa Fe Community College, Jemez Rooms. In 2004 Poetry Jam was held at El Museo Cultural and The Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe. The 2003 event took place at the Branigan Cultural Center and Court Youth Center in Las Cruces. In 2002, the inaugural Poetry Jam took place at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
