Chapter Summary
This chapter provides a historical overview of adobe building in New Mexico and around the world. A comparison is made between the Pueblo and Spanish building styles. There is a discussion of how this building style reflected the needs and economic realities of people who built with adobe.
Lesson Plan Summary
In this lesson, students will learn how to make adobe bricks as well as how to lay them in a structurally sound way. A vocabulary list of words having to do with adobe brick making accompanies this lesson. Related classroom activities pertaining to math, science, and language arts are included under curriculum integrations. Bibliographies for adults and children and links to related WWW sites are located under our reference desk.
