CALL FOR ARTISTS
Los Alamos Art Center at Fuller Lodge's 32nd Summer Arts and Crafts Fair on August 8, 2009. The Fair takes place in conjunction with the annual Los Alamos Rodeo, which draws a multitude of visitors and features 100-125 artists. Vendors set up on the lawn of the Historic Fuller Lodge. The neighboring library hosts the county fair at the same time, and there is live music throughout the day. Cost for a 10x10 booth space is $125. VOLUNTEERS TO HELP WITH NEWBORNS
Would you enjoy giving friendly mentoring and support to a new mom? Many Mothers nurtures a new mother so that she can nurture her newborn. Volunteers are needed to provide practical, educational and emotional support in the first three months after a baby is born. Many Mothers serves to rebuild a community of support for new moms who may feel isolated and overwhelmed at this wondrous time that is so critical for developing the vital mother/child bond. Local published author and optioned screenwriter, Peggy Bechko announces the release of her first non-fiction E-Book, Out of Thin Air. Writer/Illustrator seeks Funding for Animal Adventure Stories.This is a Literacy and Language Arts teaching program that includes stories, illustrations and a teacher’s manual. The 2009 Southwest Gay and Lesbian Film Festival is now accepting submissions. Celebrating its seventh year, the film festival is held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from October 9-15, 2009. Films and videos submitted can be of any length and should be of interest to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgendered communities. Keshet Dance Company invites all choreographers - young, old, beginners, professionals, and anyone in between - to participate in the Summer 2009 Choreographers' Showcase on Sunday, August 2 at the South Broadway Cultural Center. Living the Rule of Benedict in Our Daily Lives: A Retreat at the Monastery of Christ in the Desert. This retreat is for all who might feel the monastic pull, to call forth and nourish the bit of monk in us.
