Letter from the Director
Dear Friends & Colleagues-
With this edition of the newsletter we are suspending publication. The reason is simple: We have no sponsor for the newsletter, and there are no extra funds to keep on publishing. My calls for donations have been answered by too few of you. Perhaps another organization or individual will pick up this task. I hope so.
We've had a good run. Our subscriber base has held steady at around 6,000, a sign, I believe, that the postings of shows, classifieds, jobs, workshops, and other information have been useful to you.
Bill Hutchison was the first editor, followed by Robin Jones, who is also vice-president of the CultureNet board. Sam Levy is the person who formats the newsletter, adds photos, manages distribution and generally is indispensible. Thanks, Bill, Robin and Sam!
A final bit of self-promotion: On Sunday, September 13, at 5:00 p.m., CultureNet is holding our annual Poets-in-the-Schools fundraiser at a beautiful private home in Tesuque. Joan Logghe will be the Honored Guest. Also in attendance will be some of the student poets our program serves as well as Santa Fe Public Schools Superintendent Bobbie Gutierrez, Associate Superintendent Denise Johnston and members of the Board of Education. If you are interested in attending this Friends of CultureNet gourmet supper and celebration, please contact me.
Whether you attend or not, we need and greatly appreciate your tax-deductible donations in support of Poets-in-the-Schools.
Thanks and Best to All,
-Alex Traube
